Green Island

    was finished in the beginning of March, and in April, it was time for an official opening. Our partners, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy Company (SGRE), financed the construction of the project,
    through their CSR – program. We invited SGRE to attend the opening ceremony, and we were very happy to welcome Lisa and Klaus from Siemens Gamesa, who came all the way from Hamburg, Germany to attend the event.

    Sixty children from the community participated over a two full day’s football  festival, bringing the whole community together.  Below you can see the highlights of the weekend.

    Highlights from the Opening Weekend

    Teamwork
    is important, and the best way to show your appreciation of your teammate is to give him or her a good, warm hug. And here Javier is showing an example of a quality hug
    Germany
    was one of the eight countries in the World Cup of Values. One of the jobs for the German team was to paint the flag. They also learn how to say danke schön and sauerkraut!
    Eh Dah Bu
    is one of many volunteers who help out PlayOnside on a regular basis. This weekend she was in charge of cutting watermelons, and then quality control is important.
    Full Focus during the Straw Game
    This is all about teamwork, concentration and precision! Move the rubber band from one straw to the next. The first team that finish gets the points!
    Japan
    came in to the tournament with a very strong team as one of the favorites to win the prestigious trophy. Unfortunately Norway was too strong in the semi final this time! Good luck next year, Japan!
    Team PlayOnside
    PlayOnside would not be the same without all the volunteers that always show up to give us an extra hand. Especially big thanks to Gu Lay and Eh Dah Bu for always being there when we need help!
    The amount of fun
    you can have with some colorful football cones is only limited by the imagination
