    Football People

A collaboration between Fare Network and PlayOnside

    Stronger Together

Fare Network is a network organization, bringing together different organizations, individuals and initiatives. Fare Network and PlayOnside have collaborated for several years, and this is the fourth time PlayOnside participate in the #FootballPeople Action Weeks

    #FootballPeople Action Weeks

From October 10 to October 24 2019, Fare Network initiate their annual #FootballPeople Action Week to celebrate diversity and combat all forms of discrimination.

    Global Event

#FootballPeople is a global campaign, and search for the hashtag on social media to see all the different initiatives from around the world. More than 150.000 individuals in 50 different countries challenge stereotypes on the football field during these two weeks. This makes #FootballPeople the largest campaign for social change in football globally, and PlayOnside is proud to be a part of this wonderful movement.

PlayOnside Football People Festival at Green Island

This year we decided to invite four different migrant schools to participate in two full days of playful learning at our field “Green Island”. We involved the whole community, and showed the football movie “Bend it like Beckham” – a feelgood movie about  challenging gender and social barriers on the football field.

    Objectives

    Fight
    Racism

Football People Action Week is about fighting all sorts of discrimination. Football is and should be for everyone, regardless of origin, race, religion, or sexuality.

    Social
    Inclusion

We are all different. Different colors, different background and different cultures. But on the field we are all the same.

    Challening
    Stereotypes

It is important to use the transformtive power of football to challenge stereotypes of all types. That being cultural, social, or religious barriers hindering participation.

    Gender
    Equality

PlayOnside has always, and will always fight for equality between the genders. Gender Equality does not stop at the football field - it is where it starts!

    Celebrate
    Diversity

Thailand and Myanmar are countries of diversity and in the past the differences has been a source of conflict. PlayOnside celebrates the strength of diversity through our football festivals.

    Strengthening
    Partnership

PlayOnside is happy to work with organizations, individuals and initiatives fighting to combat discrimination, and promote peace. We will continue to build on these collaborations in the future, and Fare Network and PlayOnside is on the same team also in the future.
